While she may not be the queen bee of the school, Georgina Sparks is the queen bee of our hearts here at Lustre. The ultimate bad girl of Gossip Girl, and our personal favorite character. Here we’ll break down her style for our fellow Georgina lovers.
Beauty
A core part of what makes Georgina such a style icon is her hair and makeup. Obviously Michelle Trachtenberg is gorgeous, and as Georgina she’s best known for her perfectly done long dark brown hair and doll-like makeup.
She’s normally seen in dark eye makeup, typically a gray shadow with smokey black liner, lots of blush, and a pink glossy lip. Here you can see her versions of her typical look.
Her hair is normally worn down with a center part and either gently curled or straight, though she’ll sometimes wear it up for events.
Style Through the Seasons
Outside of her beauty regime, her style is really all about the accessories. Especially in the first 3 seasons, her clothing pieces are really basic, but her giant sunglasses and layered jewelry is what really catches your eye. She’s often wearing a basic tank and skinny jeans, the types of clothes you might find at a Nordstrom Rack.
In the later seasons and in the reboot she starts incorporating her bold accessory style into her clothes, where she’s frequently seen wearing clothes that are embellished with spikes, studs, glittery elements, and bold shoulders, evoking her power and taking up space. Master of Disguise
Outside of her typical style, Georgina also loves a disguise – from uber glam to innocent, she’s ready to switch wardrobes and personas at any time.
Core Style Elements
As said before, despite being such a style icon, her wardrobe is pretty repetitive and she wears relatively basic pieces. A common outfit theme for her is a dark purple tanktop with layered or statement necklaces, or a dark colorered/black shirt that shows off her figure. Her outfits mostly shine because of her accessories, which typically include a large handbag, large sunglasses, and tons of jewelry. Normally she’s seen wearing heeled sandals, but unfortunately this shoe choice feels pretty dated for the current trends.
Michelle Trachtenberg is often color typed as a “summer”, but with her dark hair in this show she leans into both summer and winter colors. She looks great in the cooler muted tones that she’s often put in on the show, and dark purple seems to be her signature color. In addition to her jewelry, she also wears a lot of clothes with metallic elements in the later seasons, and occasionally is shown in gold/beige.
Shopping for her style
To shop Georgina’s style, look for clothes in darker colors or with metallic accents, and jackets with bold shoulders or details. A few examples of things to look for below:
Big Sunglasses – Georgina loves a pair of giant sunglasses, especially when she’s in character.
Lots of jewelry – She’s often seen wearing large hoop earings, layered long necklaces, stacked bracelets, and big rings. Primarly in silver and black, but occasionally she’s seen in gold.
Big bags – Look for large bags with handles to carry all your secrets.
Leather jacket – She’s seen re-wearing the same leather jacket in a few scenes.
Black nail polish – She’s normally seen wearing black nail polish, mostly short nails and unchipped (since she is an upper east sider of course.)
Statement shoulders – she’s seen wearing jackets with more “power-shoulders” in later seasons – look for clothes that let you take up space.
Spikes and studs – I love this power shoulder moment. Look for clothes with aggressive detailing, and don’t be afraid to take risks.
